Microsoft 365 subscription plans overview

Microsoft 365 is a solution that offers tools for collaboration in a secure environment, both for individuals and businesses. Microsoft 365 has several major subscriptions. Find out which one is right for you.

This subscription is for large organizations. It includes Office 365 Enterprise, Windows 10 Enterprise, as well as tools for Enterprise Mobility + Security that help to manage mobile devices and guarantee data security.
Below are the Enterprise subscription plans, each of them includes capabilities of the previous ones:

F1 – the simplest plan, includes main components of Azure AD, Office for Web and Office Mobile Apps (only for reading), SharePoint Online Kiosk, Teams, Yammer, and Stream for Office 365 for Firstline.
Price: $4 user/month

F3 – includes Windows10, Office for Web and Mobile apps (possible to edit), Exchange Online Kiosk (Exchange Online for work with mail through Outlook Web Access), Microsoft Forms, MyAnalytics, Sway, To-Do, Power Apps for Office 365, Power Automate for Office 365.
Price: $10 user/month

E3 – includes apps and core security capabilities. Office 365 client apps, both for desktop and mobile, complete versions of Exchange and SharePoint, Office 365 Data Loss Prevention (email & files), Skype for Business, Microsoft planner.
Price: $32 user/month

E5 – a complete solution that includes fully functioning Microsoft apps with advanced security, compliance, and analytical capabilities.
Price: $57 user/month

E5 Security – advanced security tools included in E5 and available for E3 plan users for an additional cost.
Includes:

• Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection – user devices protection
• Azure Advance Threat Protection – protection of Azure data
• Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection Plan 2 – protection of Office 365 data
• Microsoft Cloud App Security

E5 Compliance – advanced compliance tools to govern and protect sensitive data and respond to regulatory requirements. Included in E5, may be purchased additionally by E3 users.

Includes:

• Office 365 Advanced eDiscovery (content search and documents review)
• Office 365 Advanced Compliance (compliance and risk management)
• Communication Data Loss Prevention in Teams
• Microsoft Cloud App Security – a solution that helps organizations identify and combat cyber threats, and control data movement across any cloud app
• Office 365 Privileged Access Management – a solution that helps to organize access control over privileged admin tasks in an existing Active Directory environment

It is a solution for small to medium-sized companies that are ready to move to cloud-based work and collaboration. Includes productivity, security, and device management tools.

In comparison to Enterprise solution, it offers less sophisticated tools for compliance and security management, and no BI and analytics tools. Companies can get up to 300 Business licenses for their organization.

Below are the Business subscription plans, each of them includes capabilities of the previous ones:

Basic – includes web and mobile versions of Office 365 services (except for Microsoft Bookings), doesn’t include security and device management tools.
Price: $5 user/month

Standard – in addition to the Basic plan, also includes desktop versions of Office apps and supports appointment management with Bookings.
Price: $12.50 user/month

Premium – in addition to Business Standard includes Windows 10 Business and offers advanced threat protection and device management.
Price: $20 user/month

A solution for educational institutions, includes Office 365, Windows 10, Enterprise Mobility + Security.

Education plans:

A1 – Free subscription with web versions of the most popular apps like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote. Gives teachers and students an opportunity to work together, communicate easily, and create great content. Other Office 365 services included are Teams, Forms, Sway, Yammer, Stream, PowerApps.

A3 – In addition to all the A1 features, it includes full access to the Office desktop apps as well as additional management and security tools. For example, teachers can use Bookings to schedule appointments with students or parents, assess and prevent potential threats with Office 365 Cloud App Security.
Price for students: $2.5 user/month
Price for teachers, and staff: $3.25 user/month

A5 – includes all the values of A3 plus advanced security management, compliance, and analytics.
Price for students: $6 user/month
Price for teachers, and staff: $8 user/month

Price, Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise: $12 user/month

Includes main desktop apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook) as well as OneDrive cloud storage (1TB per person), Skype, Editor, Family Safety.

There are 2 main plans: for one user – Personal and for a family, 2-6 users – Family. Each plan allows installing the apps on up to 6 devices for each user.

Price Family: $8.34 per month (when billed annually)

Office Home & Student 2019 – only desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (Classic 2019 versions). One-time purchase for 1 PC.
